3 Proven Steps To End Anxiety FOR GOOD
Hey guys, it’s Josh here.
In this blog, I'll share 3 Proven Steps to End Anxiety FOR GOOD.
If this speaks to you then you’ve probably been trying to figure this anxiety thing out for a while now.
You’ve been to the doctors, the psychologists, the therapists and you've done your own self analysis to try and get to the bottom of these weird anxiety symptoms you’re having.
Maybe you’ve even started labelling yourself with words that end with “phobia”, you’ve started using words like “dissassociation”, “depersonalisation” or “derealisation”.
You’ve got physical symptoms like heart rate increase, sweating, change in skin colour particularly in your face, gut issues, turning stomach and all the rest of it.
You’ve gone to the doctors to try and find solutions but all tests come back clear.
This is sending you into a mental spiral of negative thoughts and emotions.
You’re either avoiding the issue and trying to resist it or push it away… kinda like you’re frozen or “stuck”.
OR
It’s leading you to become reactive, frustrated, impatient and low key angry.
Maybe both…
You could be keeping it together in your professional life, you’re still able to show up to work and “get things done”...
But when it comes to your personal life, your relationships and your health, you feel a bit fucked.
All of this can fall under one umbrella category of “Anxiety”.
And if this resonates with you then it’s likely this issue is starting to create some problems for you.
So if you’re new here then let me introduce myself.
Who Am I?
My name is Josh and I have a lot of mental health issues and addiction in my family.
Anxiety and addiction are both something I struggled with earlier in my life.
I was anxious and then I would lean on drugs and alcohol to cope with everything.
Which was basically just a form of suppression.
Now I’ve got both of those issues under control.
I no longer get anxiety and I have found freedom from my addictions.
In this video I’m going to show you the 3 proven steps to end anxiety for good.
When I was 17, I was scared of myself, I was scared of my mind and I was scared of my life.
I didn’t have much self control and this made me afraid.
I thought to myself “I can’t live like this”.
So I started a mission to figure out how I could get my mind under control
I went deep into understanding how my mind works, how my nervous system works and what anxiety is (and what it’s not).
I didn’t want to go on medication like my parents and I didn’t want to become addicted or reliant on any substance whether that be alcohol or medications…
Here’s What I Found.
One of the biggest things that can help you with ending anxiety for good is simply a good education about yourself, your mind and your body.
Once you understand yourself, you can understand your anxiety.
I realised that anxiety is really just a fear response and it’s your body perceiving danger (often when there is no danger)
If you experience high levels of anxiety then your nervous system has been conditioned into fear, danger and a sense of not being safe.
People with chronic anxiety also have thought patterns that contribute to this sense of not being safe.
Thoughts like “I’m not good enough”, “there’s something wrong with me” or “I’m broken”.
These kinds of thoughts only add to the feeling of danger.
Your brain sends signals to your body through the nervous system and the thought signals influence hormone production which creates stress chemicals like cortisol and adrenaline.
This response sends signals back to the brain convincing the brain it’s in danger and needs to activate survival mechanisms.
You quickly enter into the fight or flight mode of the nervous system and you will either ‘freeze”, 'fight” or 'flight” (avoid).
Developing a deep understanding of how all of this works is incredibly helpful.
Through understanding and education, you can build a plan for recovery and healing.
This leads us to the 3 proven steps to end anxiety for good.
The Mind Launch Method
Regulate
Consciously work on regulating your nervous system with daily habits proven to reduce stress and anxiety.
Habits like…
- Walking
- Meditation
- Journalling
Build a daily routine around these habits.
Reprogram
Consciously work on reprogramming your mind and changing negative beliefs into positive beliefs.
You can do this daily through your meditation and journaling practices.
You can also do this in the moment through the Letting Go Method
An easy way to remember this is calling it the AAA method (like a sigh, aaa)
Acknowledge - Acknowledge and label the experience you’re having “this is anxiety”
Accept - Accept the experience you’re having and accept the feelings you’re having
Allow - Allow yourself to go through the feeling of anxiety instead of fighting against it
Everytime you do this, you are teaching your nervous system to feel safe and you’re training your mind to think about the anxiety in a different way.
Over time, you build a whole new nervous system with new neural pathways.
Reset
Finally, you reset your life.
You consciously carry on with life and you re-engage with your life in a new way.
Everyday you make the conscious choice to reinforce your new normal.
The 4th Step that nobody talks about… Relapse
The journey of anxiety recovery usually has relapses but nobody likes to talk about this because they’re trying to sell you some magic quick fix.
The truth is, you will probably have relapses.
You’ll probably have days when you feel like you’re going backwards, not forward.
This is normal and it doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you.
In fact, these days are the days that really count for your long term healing.
You have to learn to hold yourself through these times and continue to reinforce the new belief system that “you got this” and you are on the journey of healing.
The relapse is kinda like the “Final Boss”.
When you learn to navigate the relapse days, you’ll start to develop a level of confidence that is “unfuckwithable”.
So don’t cave to the relapse, instead, reframe it and tell yourself a story about how this experience is making you stronger.
When you get these 3 proven steps down and you make them your priority every single day, you’ll accelerate your journey of healing and you’ll start to get your life back.
